what we do
Our aim is to serve Secondary Schools in Maidstone in relevant ways, to see this happen we are happy to discuss the needs of a school and see how we can work to offer support in these areas. We can create sessions or offer provision from the wide and varied experience, knowledge and expertise of people from the local churches. We want to help students develop holistically: spiritually, morally, emotionally and culturally, and help the students to develop their self awareness and potential.
CAST aims to do this through the ways described below, please contact us to find out more or discuss different needs or ideas.
“Young people are innately curious, growing up raises lots of questions, and bring many new experiences, both good and bad. They also have a sense of wonder at the world they live in and whether there’s more to life than meets the eye. Prayer Spaces in Schools enable young people, of all faiths and none, to explore these life questions, spirituality and faith in a safe, creative and interactive way. Taking a broadly Christian perspective as a starting point, prayer spaces give children and young people an opportunity to develop skills of personal reflection and to explore prayer in an inclusive and safe environment.”
A mentor acts as a good role model, who comes alongside a younger person to encourage and support them for a period of their life. They listen to and share experiences and challenges and help the young person to find solutions. They are someone who builds a trusting relationship, who seeks to develop the positive aspects of the young person and their life and to recognise and celebrate their achievements.
Focus Days & Lessons
CAST highly values relationships and so we want to support schools to meet their needs, by listening and serving. We are happy to build and develop bespoke lessons and focus days aimed to the areas that pupils need to learn. We have input from professionals or experts in different fields to help guide and produce high quality sessions with relevant and current information. We have delivered focus day sessions from Christian perspectives on topics including Marriage, Family, and Relationships.
CAST can also facilitate a ‘question a Christian or Church Leader panel’ sessions, which can be open ended or focused around a briefed topic.
SAFEspace aims to offer in-school support that can be delivered in informal settings (particularly at break/lunch times) this aims to be available to all members of the school community - including pupils and staff members. We hope to help provide a visible presence, a calming influence, accessible, friendly support and safe spaces for students, particularly those who feel more vulnerable or less confident during non-teaching times of the school day.
